WHAT DOES SMAAK DO AS A VENTURE?
sMaak is a student-led social enterprise managing Middle Eastern food ventures run by refugees. The venture aims to help immigrants integrate into Dutch society, offering a unique culinary experience.
SMAAK STORY
Founded eight years ago, sMaak began as a community of immigrant mothers cooking together. It started at a primary school in Schiedam, where mothers who migrated to the Netherlands in the hope of achieving a better life, cooked together for different school events. Their passion for food bound them together and soon, a community of talented cooks was formed. Since then, sMaak has grown to a catering company that provides food to individuals and organizations in Rotterdam. SMaak not is a catering company specializing in Middle Eastern cuisine, focusing on Syrian and Iraqi roots. Profits are reinvested to strengthen the organization’s capabilities.
